Darkness

Well the lights just blew in our office and an imminent descent into darkness awaits the anxious individuals penned inside. This certainly would never happen with led gu10 bulbs! What better moment for a poem about darkness? Read on to hear the eloquent words of the poet, Lois Pedersen, in his ‘Ode to Darkness’.

“There is beauty in the darkness, in the blackness of the night;
In its velvety embrace you can sense the awesome might,
It covers and protects as a mother's loving arms
If you only but surrender to its soft enticing charms.”

I bet some other famous people have imparted fine words on the subject of darkness. Indeed they have, read on if you’re interested.

“Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content.” – Helen Keller

“Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.” – Edgar Allan Poe

Autumn = New Music!

I love this time of year, there's a bit of a chill in the air but the skies are still blue and the leaves are turning brown, it's gorgeous.

But the biggest reason I love it, is because this is the time of year when loads of awesome music gets released!

I'm currently listening to the stream of La Dispute's new album 'Wildlife' which isn't actually out until next month, but I guess someone leaked it so they're streaming it themselves now. I've downloaded the dodgy copy so I can play it off my R4i card when I'm not connected to WiFi, but I'll buy it for real next month too.

And Blink 182's new album is out on Monday, after so many years of waiting, countless release date pushbacks and wondering if it would ever come out at all. I can't wait. Most of my friends have downloaded the bootleg but I'm going to go buy the CD on Monday and give them a good old fashioned listen that they deserve.

The Joy Formidable

The Joy Formidable is one of my favorite Alternative music bands, and I make it a point to catch up on every piece of news -- mostly about the upcoming albums -- about this band.
In fact, I came across this article on Buzzin Music Blog just yesterday about the release of their forthcoming album. All the Joy formidable fans are about to get a taste of this new album through the release of their single "I Don't Want To See You Like This" on October 11. I am really looking forward to it.
If you are waiting for the video, that could take some time; the band did travel to South Wales in August this year to shoot the video, but for reasons way beyond their control, they weren't able to shoot it. Have a look at the official clip and see for yourself what stalled the making of that video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7g842UJCLus
